BD Falcon™ 96-Multiwell 1.0 µm Insert
System with Feeder Tray and Lid
BD Falcon Multiwell insert systems are cell culture
assay platforms with one-piece insert housing and a fluorescence blocking,
microporous PET (polyethylene terephthalate) membrane available in 1µm,
3µm, and 8µm pore sizes. BD Falcon systems are designed to increase
efficiency, productivity, and throughput. The black housing of the BD Falcon
96-multiwell insert minimizes crosstalk between the wells and virtually
eliminates autofluorescence. The multiwell insert plate format is compatible
with standard fluorescence plate readers, robots, and fluid handling
instruments. The wide blocking range (490–700nm) of the BD FluoroBlok
membrane allows the flexibility to choose from a variety of fluorophores for
screening compounds in cell-based assays such as compound permeability, cell
invasion and migration, and monolayer permeability. Each BD Falcon insert has
an automation compatible sampling port for sampling above and below the
membrane with standard pipet tips or automated fluid handling equipment. The BD
Falcon 96-well feeder trays with lids (BD-353924) and the 96 square-well flat
bottom assay plates (BD353928) feature a nontreated, hydrophobic polystyrene
surface. Both are sterile and pyrogen-free.
BD Falcon™ HTS Multiwell Insert System is ideal
for high or moderate throughput screening assays where cells are cultured on
multiple permeable supports. Excellent for differentiation, toxicology,
migration, and invasion studies. This assay platform consists of a BD Falcon
24-multiwell polyethylene terephthalate (PET) membrane insert plate with lid
and either a media feeder tray or a polystyrene plate. Large, one-well feeder
tray design enhances reproducibility from well to well and reduces the need for
frequent media changes. Compatible with most robots and fluid handling
instruments that accept BD Falcon 24-well plate formats. Sterilized by gamma
irradiation. For single use only. When used in conjunction with a BD Falcon
24-well plate, sampling ports facilitate media sampling from above and below
the membrane with automated fluid handlers or multichannel pipettors.

Storage BD Falcon plates are ideal for automated
storing, archiving, and transporting chemicals. Rigid, automation-compatible BD
Falcon plates are designed for various protocols requiring solvent resistance,
including DSMO. Two full-width white writing patches provide easy labeling or
bar coding. BD Falcon polypropylene lid is compatible with automated lidding
and de-lidding devices. Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) mat cover for U-bottom
plates significantly reduces cross-contamination for long-term storage. Mat
cover working volume is 160µL with DSMO and 200µL with aqueous

These BD Falcon 96-well tissue culture treated
polystyrene plates are designed with raised wells and inter-well spacing to
reduce cross-contamination. Working volume is 0.25mL. U-bottom. The low
evaporation polystyrene lid utilizes a labyrinth design to reduce media
evaporation. Lids fit one-way with raised rings for each well that further
reduce chances for contamination. Lids also have a raised stacking ridge for

These BD Falcon microplates are constructed from a
proprietary resin with low UV absorbance in the 260/280nm range. This design
facilitates DNA, RNA, and protein quantitation applications. Rigid construction
ensures that plates are automation-friendly for use in 96-well
spectrophotometers. Microplates are clear, nonsterile, and feature flat-bottom
wells and an A1/H1 notch designation. Total volume: 370µL.
BD Falcon Polystyrene plates feature deep well
design to control contamination while reducing evaporation and minimizing edge
effects. BD Falcon Plates have serrated gripping panels for easier handling and

BD Falcon Polystyrene 96-well plates feature flat,
injection molded bottoms to provide low variability in light transmittance as
well as excellent optics for imaging. Clear bottom is 0.75mm (1/32") thick. BD
Falcon plate base does not have serrations, allowing a bar code to be placed on

These nonsterile, flexible, 96-well, polyvinyl
chloride (PVC) assay plates feature an alphanumeric identification system for
easy well location and plate orientation. The optional PVC lid minimizes

These BD Falcon 96-well polypropylene plates are

BD Falcon plates have been manufactured to consistent external dimensions,

for assays not requiring cell attachment. The surface is nontreated for a
