Whatman Nytran SuPerCharge and Nylon Membranes, Whatman
Filters
Nytran SuPerCharge membranes have a very high positive
charge and feature greater density of nylon. They bind three times more
negatively-charged dye than typical positively-charged nylon membranes.
Membranes boast uniform pore size and distribution. This consistent morphology
leads to greater reproducibility of results across a membrane and from blot to
blot. Membranes deliver a high signal with extremely low background when used
with radioactive or non-radioactive detection techniques. Nytran nylon
membranes are ideal for applications that require a lower charge. These
membranes are designed for Southern and Northern blotting, colony and plaque
lifts, and dot- or slot-blots. Membranes are cast uniformly for excellent
symmetry and to prevent curling. Butterfly membrane has asymmetric notches and
tabs for easier handling, improved orientation, and identification of colony
and plaque lifts.
Recommended for most routine applications involving
particles and cells from 0.15µm. These flexible membranes tolerate
abuse during handling, loading, and autoclaving without sacrificing integrity.
Low levels of extractables. White plain circles. The AE 98 membrane is
unsupported.
For medical and laboratory filtration. Made of a
porous, polycarbonate film, penetrated with uniform cylindrical holes that
produce a sieve-like filtering action. Ideal for critical cytologic diagnosis,
culture preparations, and large volume applications. Other specific
applications include aerospace fluid analysis, water testing, chemical assay,
petroleum products analysis, solvent filtration, and bacteria monitoring.
Plastic surface of membranes is chemically resistant and unaffected by most
solutions used for fixation and staining. Can sustain temperatures up to
140°C with no adverse effects. Membranes have birefringent refractive
indexes of 1.625 and 1.584.

Whatman Westran PVDF Transfer Membranes, Whatman Filters
Membranes feature a high protein binding ability to
eliminate blow-through. They will also increase the signal over a wide range of
molecular weights without compromising sample integrity. Use the S membrane for
protein sequencing and the clear signal membrane for Western blot and protein
dot-blot applications.
Designed for use in vacuum and pressure filtration
applications. Filters feature an unsupported Anopore membrane disc compatible
with a wide range of organic chemicals, solvents and aqueous solutions,
eliminating the need for multiple filter types. Ideal for microscopic analysis
because of its sieve-like properties and virtual transparency when wet.
Diameter: 13mm.
Suitable for exacting air pollution monitoring,
especially critical analyses and trace level determinations, atomic absorption
spectroscopy, and flame emission spectrometry. Used in PM10 and PM2.5 air
sampling testing. Sheets available sequentially numbered for easy traceability.
Membranes are made from pure cellulose acetate, making
them ideal for biological and clinical analysis, sterility tests, and
scintillation measurements. Filters exhibit very low protein binding capacity
and are hydrophilic, making them suitable for aqueous and alcoholic media. The
cellulose acetate membranes have improved solvent resistance, particularly to
low molecular weight alcohols, and increased heat resistance. The membrane
filters exhibit high physical strength and can be used up to 180°C
(356°F), making them suitable for hot gases and allowing them to be
sterilized by all methods without sacrificing the integrity of the membrane
Suitable for use in a wide range of specialized
applications, including HPLC mobile phase filtration and degassing, bacterial
analysis by epifluorescent light microscopy, ultra cleaning of solvents,
gravimetric analysis, and liposome extrusion. Consist of an Anopore membrane
disc, peripherally bonded to an annular polypropylene ring. Compatible with a
wide range of organic chemicals, solvents and aqueous solutions, eliminating
the need for multiple filter types. Sieve-like properties of Anopore membrane
enable microorganisms and particles to be retained on membrane surface for
electron microscope examination. Virtually transparent when wet permitting
examination by light microscopy without need to transfer the retained material.
For use as a substrate for the collection and rapid
analysis of bacteria, yeast, and microflora by membrane epifluorescence
microscopy. Excellent for enumerating viable and non-viable bacteria in
ultrapure-water systems. Filters feature extremely low autofluorescence and low
absorption of acridine orange fluorochrome stain, offering high sensitivity and
efficiency for analysis.

Filters
Very useful in clarification of cloudy
solutions. Widely used in water analysis.
For analytical procedures involving coarse
particles or gelatinous precipitates. Useful for iron or aluminum hydroxides.
Also used in quantitative air pollution analysis as a paper tape for
impregnation when determining gaseous compounds at high flow rates.
Ashless paper for gravimetric analysis with
very fine particle retention. A thinner paper than Grade No. 42, with lower ash
weight per sample and almost twice the flow rate.
Thin, smooth, hardened, low ash paper with
high wet strength. Retains the finest crystalline precipitates. Highly suitable
for qualitative or quantitative filtrations requiring vacuum assistance on
Buchner or 3-piece filter funnels. Withstands wet handling and precipitate
removal by scraping.
Hardened, low ash paper recommended for
gelatinous precipitates and coarse particles. High wet strength makes this
grade suitable for vacuum assisted fast filtration of difficult
coarse or gelatinous precipitates.
Inert cotton linter, black dyed filter
paper is designed for detection of light-colored precipitates. Also used in
food laboratories and in determination of impurities in gases.
